For example, if you need railings for this deck:

In this example, we'll illustrate our process for designing steel railings, but the approach is nearly identical for glass railings.

Note:

We'll start with the dimensions for the first run of railing...

We'll start with the dimensions for the first run of railing...

155-3/8"

For a run of this length, we would design 3 panels of equal width.

(We generally limit panel width to a max of 54" to limit weight and make installation easier).

Like this:

On to the next run, same process...

246-1/4"

For a run of this length, we would design 5 panels of equal width.

Like this:

Next, on to the stairs...

43-1/8"

33.8 deg

With these two measurements (and some help from Pythagoras), we have all the info we'll need to determine the size and shape for your stairs or sloped surfaces and produce a railing that fits perfectly every time.

Like this:

Finally, toprails. They tie everything together for fantastic aesthetics, strength, and rigidity.

We offer metal and wood toprails and handrails in a variety of shapes and sizes, engineered to make installation easy.

Our toprails and handrails include all the components, hardware, and instructions you'll need.

Rather use your own, locally sourced wood?

We'll help you achieve the same benefits that our proprietary products offer - solid connection, perfect fit, and a great look.
